About Me

First things first: I have an insanely long list of pseudonyms that I've used at some point or another. While I'd love to list them all, I'm bound to miss a couple that I don't use anymore, so there really is no point. Suffice to say that the name I use most commonly on the interwebs is Rosefae. In real life, however, most people tend to call me Rose. No, it's not my real name. Yes, it's a long story. And yes, I'm rather tired of explaining it to every person I meet.

I'm Chinese born and bred (sort of), and I'm afraid my IQ is just high enough to back the stereotype but fall short of anything truly remarkable. By the time I was twelve, I'd resided in three different countries. I'd like to think that this allows me to form more informed opinions on things like politics, but chances are I'm just as ignorant of the world as every other teenager. Currently, I'm living in Canada. You know, that place just north of the US.

I've always had a love of reading and doodling. Cleaning out the flat we once lived in, my room was filled with stacks of faded picture books and boxes of dried-out markers. Amongst the dusty pils, I found a (very short) story I had written when I was maybe three or four. Roughly translated, it went "Once upon a time there was a girl. She got a doll for her birthday. They played together and were happy. The end." Attached was sheet of incomprehensible lines where I had tried to illustrate the story.

Computers were a slightly different matter. Back when personal computers first started popping up, my mom decided to jump on the bandwagon early and got a Windows 3.2. At that, point the machine to me was just something with horrible graphics. When I was eight or so, my mom taught me some basic HTML. There, the knowledge sat unused until I was twelve, when my discovery of CSS rekindled my love of computer sciences.

At some point I also picked up a knack for singing. But that's another story altogether.

Current ambition: Exploring the art of narrative in the medium of online Flash games. Childhood dream: To one day make it to the New York Times Bestsellers list. Eventual goal: a tenured teaching position at a university. If I can somehow combine the three, all the better.

About the Site

This domain was bought on September 1, 2008 from 1&1, as an unbelievably belated Christmas present from my mom. It's hosted at FusedTree, a free webhost with insane amounts of disk space and bandwidth.

Credit must be given where credit is due, and many resources were used in creating this site. The gallery script used is Lytebox v3.22. The form used on the contact page is provided by courtesy of EmailMeForm.com. The pretty art nouveau floral patterns in the graphics were made with Photoshop brushes by Graphic Identity and Sha of PSBrushes.net. The background pattern is a recolored version of one of the many beautiful patterns by Isotope.151 of ColourLovers.
