Somnus Votum
Several sleepless nights I spent with her,
Conversing in bed by dim lamplight.
Shared warmth chase away the bleak winter,
While outside paired snowflakes engage in flight.
At the end of those several sleepless nights,
She said she doesn't love him anymore.
Thank you, she says, for making me forget,
But the quiver of her lips tell a different lore.
Those sleepless nights we got drunk on wine,
For lonely girls, it's not a crime.
We went up to bed and it was there,
For broken girls, it feels so fine.
She called me up that first evening,
And said he didn't love her anymore.
She cried out her heart and she wet my lap,
Her tears carried us from sanity's shore.
